Besides Japanese culture, he explore other interest to refine his profession. After he plays boxing he find it's hard for him to buy a pair of trainers for boxing.
JAPANESE ACTOR
NARIMATSU is an actor and he is obsessed with not only Japanese culture but also delicate crafts.
CULTURE INSPIRED
He is passionate about old times SAMURAI spirit.
In Samurai culture they use Chinese character to represent their wishes and ambition.
Therefore, he fall in love with calligraphy and tattoo.
INSPIRATION
JAPANESE ARMOR
I capture the idea for his career and interest. It's interesting the way how these Japanese armor are built. They use rope to connect pieces by pieces to make armors. With this method, armor can provide flexibility to prevent samurai from impact.

THEREFORE, HE FALL IN LOVE WITH TATTOO AND CALLIGRAPHY

Deep dive in Japanese culture. Strong mindset plays important rolls in it especially zen culture.
PROBLEM
RARENESS
We are hard to find a pair of trainers are built for boxing especially.
FLEXIBILITY
Based on different training menu, he needs to work with different strength and support. At the same time, they also can work with boxing.

BEFORE I START THIS PROJECT I HAVE TO KNOW HOW TO PUNCH
THE KEY MOVE IN BOXING FOOTWORK, ESPECIALLY TWISTING
DIFFER FROM OTHER SPORTS,
IN BOXING YOU HAVE TO ROTATE TO FINISH A PUNCH
THEREFORE I HIGHLIGHT THE MOST STRETCHED AREA TO START MY IDEATION
SOLUTION
Build my project by layers by layers to achieve my goal
Elastic cord for tightness
Stretchable fabric for base
Leather for support
Elastic gore for reinforcement
& eye let
IDEATION
Align with extension area to start with sketching
PROTOTYPING
After finding out the way I want to build test model
I start to do with different test.
I figure out the way to build my prototypes. Along with stretched area, I use elastic band to create strength and eyelets. With these eyelets user can easily change their tightness by laces.
FIRST PROTOTYE
I start this prototype with multiple bands on surfaces. They create several eyelets for user to change their laces to different eyelets to adjust tightness. The direction of bands are placed from the way movement in boxing.
SECOND PROTOTYE
I build second one with same principle, but this this I use a real pair of shoes to do with my prototype. The purpose is to try to strength and how it feel on foot. I also try with stripe to increase reinforcement.
OTHER PROTOTYES
I also tried many different types of materials to build my prototypes. With different arrangement will create whole different kind of strength .
WAY TO FINAL
Before prototype becomes a real product. It takes more few steps to accomplish.
In meeting your developer, you have to prepare your tech pack which is also tag with materials.
With my prototype, I think it will give him a better view of my idea.
After my developer finish his work he will send me the first version to see if it match my design.
